About Melbourne
Must See Sights In Melbourne

Melbourne is the second largest city of Australia and also the capital of Victoria.  If you ever plan to go, or are going to Melbourne, this article is going to cover some of the must see places in this gorgeous city.

An introduction to one of the more commonly used phrases around Melbourne is the CBD, the Central Business District.  This term is used often so you must get used to it.  The Melbourne CBD offers just about anything you would want, need or expect from a big city that is home to over 3 million people.

Federation Square:  This is where the party starts.  It has become to be known as the social hub of Melbourne and the square sits with great character at an uneven slope with a huge silver building that seems to beam right up to the sky.  You can find plenty of great clubs or pubs that you would want to visit here and on nearby Flinders Lane.

Crown Entertainment Complex:  Nightlife either can both begin and end at the Crown Casino.  This is the city’s most jumping jukebox joint, with plenty of clubs and bars, and this is where you are going to find the only casino you need to go to while visiting Australia.

Melbourne Zoo:  There is no way you can go to Melbourne without spending at least one day at the oldest zoo in Australia.  This zoo is surrounded by deep leafy Royal Park, over 22 acres of land and offering many live music performances over the summer.

Queen Victoria Market:  I do not know about you, but my family does not allow me to take a trip without making sure that everyone has a souvenir of the trip and then I have to buy additional souvenirs to take home to the members of the family and some friends who were not lucky enough to get to go.  Queen Victoria market is one of the largest open markets in the Southern Hemisphere.

Melbourne Museum:  This is where you will get to see Australia’s pure champion thorough bread horse Phar Lap and see the TV set to some of the best shows in Australia as well as learn about this history and culture of Australia. An exciting, modern museum that bears no resemblance to the staid, old fashioned museums of Europe.

Melbourne Observation Deck:  This observation deck is located on the tallest office building in Melbourne, the Rialto Towers.  Here is where you will be able to view the entire city of, giving you a whole new experience of the city.

Phillip Island Penguin Parade:  The first thing you will notice is that the penguins have the walk of a drunken sailor in a black and white tuxedo! This is one of the best things to witness in Victoria, especially if you have children.  One of Victoria’s most popular wildlife attractions to say the least!  You get to witness these majestic creatures travel to Sunderland Bay, every day at sunset.  Over 500,000 tourists make it a point to see these beautiful creatures in action every year.

These are just some of the must see places in and just outside Melbourne – there are many more!
